Self-Confidence A Necessary Ingredient for Creativity

Do you want to be more creative? First, recognize your worth.

I have discovered that there is a common thread holding most people back from experiencing groundbreaking creativity.

What’s the roadblock?

Self-doubt (not being comfortable in your own skin); it’s like a tether holding your creativity down.

Self-esteem is a feeling. A feeling is something that you can learn to become aware of and work to change.

I have taken on many projects that require sustained creativity over a period of months. To sustain creativity for that long, I have to be comfortable with who I am and trust that “I’ve got this.” If I gave place to self-doubt and questioned every decision day after day, I’d burn out and give up in less than a week. Instead, it’s become a career.

Author Steven Kotler calls this “long-haul creativity” and it’s really creativity in its most powerful and rewarding form.

One mindset that I find helpful is to realize that being creative is NOT about trying to harness some bolt of lightning or higher-level consciousness.
